TIME TO WORK OUT?,..

So I have a match coming up. There's a 4-man submission tournament at the next FIGHT WORLD CUP and I've been asked to compete in it. Weight limit of under 80kgs,..which gives me HEAPS of eating options (I walk around 76kgs!). With it being about 3 weeks away,..I better start training and doing some road work. It's the day before my birthday too so it would be a nice birthday present to win.

I've also been playing international match maker too lately. My friends Ken Yasuda & Masahiro Oishi (former SHOOTO champion) from Yokohama, Japan asked me about trying to get them a fight in Australia and well,...I've lined them both up fights on an upcoming MMA event called RIZE. Just working out the opponents and details at the mement.

And the beat goes on,..

FEELING NO PAIN..

So work is back in session but my mind is fully on training. Wrestled pretty hard this week, my ears are a little sore which probably means my technique is getting better,..either that or I'm getting mashed. Training wise, I just want to enjoy myself this year and get better,..also at teaching too.

I'm still thinking of a 2 week training trip to Tokyo later this year. Just training,..nothing else. With the cheap flights heading to Tokyo from my home town right now, it's an affordable trip to just go and train.

The photo above is of a bar in the Golden Gai bar area of Kabukicho in Shinjuku. It was a Pro-wrestling/MMA/cult movie bar that fit 7 people MAX!! there was 4 of us in there and it was tight.

IT ALWAYS SWINGS AROUND,..

So I just got back from another trip to Tokyo. I must say since my last trip, when I noticed a decline in MMA visually and just in general, it seems to be on the up again. Since the demise of PRIDE, which meant no MMA on tv in Japan, which meant no major sponsors, things looked grim in Japan for MMA. But,..since the emergence of DREAM and SENGOKU, things are definitely heading back up to the top for Japanese MMA. And that's a great thing..

I went to Suidobashi, as usual, and noticed that 2 of my favourite stores, Battle Royal and Champion, weren't there. But after a brief walk around the streets some more,..I noticed that they had just moved! Great to see they hadn't gone. And,..FITNESS scared me too!,..I thought they had closed down,..but they had just opened up a new store 2 shops away and it's even better now. I spent a fucking fortune in there this trip. Bought a MOLTEN timer for the gym,..cost a stack!

Anyway,..I took photos of the stores and noted in my notebook direction to them. I guess I will have to update my MMA shop guide now..

And 5kgs of my 20kg luggage limit was MMA magazines and dvds!! Woah!

SUMMER BECOMES WINTER?..

7 days,..7 days till I leave for Tokyo. It's still ridiculously hot here at home and training is hard but the weight is dropping off on everybody lately. It's so hot, I dropped 2.5kgs in 3 days just training this week. Looking forward to the Tokyo winter.

We have 2 guys training hard for the Abu Dhabi trails coming up in about 2 months and my shoulder has been irritating me lately so I'm going to rest it before I fly out for Tokyo next Thursday. I want to be in good shape for training with Ken & Oishi at SHOOTING Gym Hakkei.

Oh,.and I got a promotion at work yesterday,..a big promotion.

UNI-QLO I WILL GO

So I'm off to Tokyo for a week Feb 12th with my producer and my girl. Considering it's extremely HOT this summer,..I'm keen to cozy up to Tokyo's winter. It's predominately a "getaway" but we intend to meet up with some contacts to finalize some things for the next project. I'm catching up with Yasuda at Shooting Gym Hakkei and hopefully Nakai san at PARAESTRA too. Can't wait to just be in Japan again honestly...I love just being there. It's people, it's culture, it's food,..the MMA, I can't get enough of it.

Today is UFC 93 and one of the most anticipated fights in MMA history, PENN vs ST PIERRE 2. Can't wait for it.
